Introducing our 2026 Club Custodian

My name is Bruce Griffin, I live in Whangarei with my wife Nicola and our cavoodle Bean, and have two adult daughters, both currently living overseas.

I have been skiing irregularly (both in frequency and style) since I was a student at Massey University about 40 years ago. Living in Northland means a long drive to the snow so I do not get to the mountain as often as I would like. I am looking forward to spending the season at Ruapehu and plan to take the opportunity to work on improving my skiing and make the most of the days when the weather and snow are good.

I would rank my cooking skills above my skiing skills. I enjoy utilising fresh, seasonal ingredients to produce tasty meals. Although not a trained cook/ chef I have worked in various cooking and catering roles, including on offshore yachts.

Other activities I enjoy include sailing, fishing and cycling. I will be bringing my mountain bike down with me with the intention of exploring the various bike trails in the region when the weather on the mountain is not so good.

My favourite run on Whakapapa is, on a nice spring day in a good snow year, from the top of the Far West T Bar down the western side of the field all the way to the base. Perfect on a sunny afternoon with spring corn.

I look forward to meeting, and getting to know, the members over the following months. So I’ll see you up there.

Firewood and Food Work Party! 15th- 17th of May 2026

It’s that time again—calling all members for the Firewood & Food Work Party!

Come along and help load up the firewood stack and stock the shelves with all the delicious food you’ll enjoy this ski season. Celebrate with us and get a first look at the newly finished exterior refurbishment of the club.

Many hands make light work, so all ages are welcome!

We’re excited to welcome you back to the Snowline Club this winter! Our friendly custodian will be ready and waiting to greet all our keen skiers and snowboarders when we open on June 27, 2025.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you from myself and on behalf of Hastings Christian School.
The students had an absolute blast and staying at the lodge was a highlight for them also. The lodge played such an important part of our stay, and allowing our students to change into dry clothes before going home and sheltering for a moment before the 3hr trip home proved to be a lifeline for us. I can’t thank you enough.
I also just want to thank Aaron and Marie for being absolutely fantastic hosts. It was really great getting to know them a little.

For the month of July join your spouse or partner as a Senior member and pay only the annual subs*. That’s right no joining fee!

So for only $275, your spouse/partner can join and stay as a member.

*Offer only available for Senior membership only. Applicant must be a spouse/partner of a current Senior member with 3+ years membership. All applications will be reviewed by the committee. Conditions apply.
